Invisalign vs Angel Aligner: What’s the Difference?

Reviewed by Dr Ng Yee Ying, Dentist, Qualiteeth Dental Clinic · October 2026

If you are thinking about straightening your teeth without metal braces, you have probably come across two names: Invisalign and Angel Aligner. Both are clear aligner systems, and both are available at Qualiteeth Dental Clinic. So what is actually different, and how do you choose?

This guide explains how the two systems compare, in plain language, so you can walk into your consultation knowing what to ask.

How clear aligners work

Clear aligners are thin, transparent trays made to fit your teeth. Your dentist scans or takes impressions of your teeth and plans how each tooth should move. A series of aligners is then made, and each set moves your teeth a small step. You change to the next set every one to two weeks, as your dentist advises.

Both Invisalign and Angel Aligner work this way. With either system you need to:

  • Wear the aligners for about 20 to 22 hours a day
  • Take them out to eat and to drink anything other than plain water
  • Brush your teeth before putting them back in
  • Come for regular check-ups so your dentist can track progress

Small tooth-coloured bumps called attachments are often bonded to some teeth to help the aligners grip and move them. Many patients also need a few extra “refinement” aligners near the end to fine-tune the result.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is made by Align Technology, a company based in the United States, and has been used since the late 1990s. It is one of the most widely used clear aligner systems in the world, so many dentists have long experience with it.

What is Angel Aligner?

Angel Aligner is made by Angelalign Technology, a company based in China. It is widely used across Asia and has become a popular choice in Malaysia, often for patients who want clear aligners and are comparing options and budgets.

The final cost of either system depends on how much your teeth need to move and how many aligners you need. Your dentist will give you the full cost before you start.

Which one should you choose?

For most patients, the two systems can achieve similar results. The bigger factors are usually:

  • Your teeth. How complex your case is matters more than the brand. Your dentist will check if aligners suit you at all, or if fixed braces would work better.
  • Your budget. Ask for the full cost of both options, including refinements and retainers.
  • Your habits. Aligners only work if you wear them. If you think you will often forget, braces may be the safer choice.

A good dentist will explain both options and recommend what suits your teeth, rather than pushing one brand.

Questions to ask at your consultation

  • Am I suitable for clear aligners, or would braces be better for my teeth?
  • Which system do you recommend for my case, and why?
  • How long will my treatment take, roughly?
  • What does the price include: attachments, refinements, check-ups, retainers?
  • What happens if my teeth don’t move as planned?

Frequently asked questions

Is Invisalign better than Angel Aligner?

Neither is better for everyone. Both use clear, removable trays and digital planning. Your dentist will recommend the system that suits your teeth and budget.

How much do Invisalign and Angel Aligner cost in Malaysia?

At Qualiteeth Dental Clinic, clear aligners including Invisalign and Angel Aligner start from RM7,999. The final cost depends on your case.

How long does clear aligner treatment take?

It depends on how much your teeth need to move. Mild cases can be shorter, while more complex cases take longer. Your dentist will give you an estimate after your consultation.

Do I need retainers after aligners?

Yes. Teeth tend to move back over time, so you will need retainers to keep your new smile in place.
