About Myobrace
Crooked teeth in children are often linked to habits such as breathing through the mouth, a low tongue position, incorrect swallowing or thumb sucking. These habits can affect how the jaws grow and leave too little room for the adult teeth.
Myobrace uses a series of soft, removable appliances worn for about one to two hours during the day and overnight while sleeping, combined with simple exercises (myofunctional training). The aim is to encourage nasal breathing, correct tongue posture and guide the jaws and teeth to develop with more space.
Results depend heavily on the child wearing the appliance and doing the exercises every day. Some children may still need braces later, often for a shorter or simpler course.
Who it can help
- Children, usually from about 5 to 15 years old, whose teeth are starting to crowd
- Children who breathe through their mouth or snore
- Thumb sucking or tongue thrusting habits
- Overbite or front teeth that stick out in a growing child
- Parents who want to address problems early, before a full course of braces
